It is our goal to create the largest worldwide unified prayer and meditation gathering through the use of a live global webcast dedicated to peace, community and healing our planet through the power of prayer. Beginning at 7:00PM PST Naam Yoga LA will host a continuous 14 hour World Peace Prayer and Meditation Marathon, with special guest and founder of Naam Yoga, Dr. Joseph Michael Levry, during which time we will recite/chant/sing authentic prayers and mantras from the major spiritual traditions of the East and West. How can this event realistically help the world? The answer lies in the square root of 1% phenomenon. Scientific studies from institutions and universities across the globe have been published in leading peer-reviewed journals that show when a small portion of the population meditates on an idea, a feeling, a cause they are able to transfer that very thought to others. So, to affect peace in a given population, the square root of 1% of that population aligns their consciousness in meditation toward peace and harmony and the result will be observed. There are currently about 7 billion people in the world, the square root of 1% of which is 8,367. That’s it. That is the number of people needed to bring about an immediate positive ripple effect that will uplift the whole world. We have the technology in place to monitor in real time how many people are tuned in at any given time. As soon as we reach 8,367 participants we will celebrate it over the broadcast! Why Now
This is an auspicious time in the history of our planet. The Mayan Calendar ends in 2012. That's a fact. However, what that means is subject to interpretation. Most people of Mayan heritage believe the end of this calendar signifies the end of an era - a paradigm shift, not the end of the world, as some might believe.
The Mayans interestingly enough tracked cycles within cycles
within cycles of time. Their calendar acted as a harmonic
calibrator, linking and coordinating the Earthly, lunar, solar
and galactic seasons. The ancient Mayans, as with almost all
ancient world cultures, believed that the Earth, as part of its
natural cycle of being, lives through a series of successive
‘world ages’, that occur about every 26,000 years. Each cycle is
separated by sudden planetary shifts. The ancient Mayans had
tremendous understanding of these cycles and believed that they
were linked to the evolution of the consciousness of the human
race.
So what will happen on the Winter Solstice date of December 21,
2012? On this day a rare astronomical and Mayan mythical event
occurs. Our Solar System will complete one of these 26,000 year
cycles and align itself with the galactic center of the Milky
Way. In astronomic terms, it’s the crossing point of the
Galactic Equator (Equator of the Milky Way) and the Ecliptic
(path of the Sun). The Milky Way, as most of us know, extends in
a general north-south direction in the night sky. The plane of
the ecliptic is the track the Sun, Moon, planets and stars
appear to travel in the sky, from east to west. On this Winter
Solstice, it will intersect the Milky Way at a 60 degree angle
near the constellation Sagittarius.
The cosmic cross formed by the intersecting Milky Way and plane
of the ecliptic was called the Sacred Tree by the Maya.
Mythically, this great galactic alignment is said to represent
the birthing of a new race, where love and compassion reign
supreme.
