Solstice and Equinox

Special Events with Dr. Joseph Michael Levry

Naam Yoga LA will be hosting special events led by Dr. Joseph Michael Levry, Universal Kabbalah Master and founder of Naam Yoga to celebrate these Solar Festivals throughout 2012!

Spring Equinox, March 21st, 7-9:30pm

Why Celebrate the Equinoxes and Solstices?
During these times, the spiritual forces are perfectly in balance, so the power of meditation during the equinoxes and solstices is greatly enhanced, several hundred times over. By meditating in a group under the guidance of a true spiritual master, the potency is powerfully augmented, and can bring balance and healing to an entire state, or even a country.

Our Equinox and Solstice Celebrations are led by Dr. Joseph Michael Levry and consist of many of the elements you will experience in the Master Class but with more focus on sacred sound current, mantric meditation and the application of mudras (hand positions) and breath. The effects of this practice during these most powerful days of the year for healing, both on the individual and collective level is augmented tremendously when experienced in large groups. Averaging anywhere from 150 – 300 people, these events are not to be missed. Dress comfortably, bring your mats and a cushion to sit on. Some chairs can be provided. Celebrations usually run 2 ½ hours in length and are always followed by a beautiful reception. All are invited.

What are Equinoxes and Solstices?
Equinox means "equal " days and nights. Spring Equinox is the most powerful day of the year. This is a time of rebirth and renewal in every aspect of our life. The sun releases vast quantities of energy upon the earth for growth and healing, manifestation and prosperity.
Fall Equinox is the third most powerful day of the year for healing and spiritual growth. Harvesting, and sharing. Ruled by Mercury it is a good time for education and writing. Hence, school usually starts at this time.

The word "Solstice" is derived from the Latin words Sol+systere, meaning "Sun"+ "standing still.” Summer Solstice is the second most powerful day of the year for spiritual growth and healing. With so much light being showered upon the earth it is the longest day of the year and the shortest night making it the best time to strengthen the life force in our body so as to optimize health.

Winter Solstice is the fourth most powerful day of the year for healing and spiritual growth. It is a time for balance and discipline. It is the longest night and the shortest day of the year. This is a time to be calm and patient, to take time and employ faith and hope.
